The Golden Mahseer (Tor putitora) is also known as the Indian Tarpon, due to its strength and size - in the local language "mah" means huge and "seer" means head. It inhabits mountain and gravel rivers on the southern slopes of the Himalayas, and can reach up to more than 50 kgs in weight. To protect the population of this extremely rare fish, more information about the expedition destination is given only to serious candidates.

Mahseer fishing takes place primarily in daylight hours, but a successful catch can also be achieved in the middle of the night as well. Unlike other tour operators, VIP Fishing Trips creates a fishing program to suite your requirements, so if you wish, Mahseer fishing at night is also possible. The target location is selected in advance, according to weather conditions and river levels, which is essential for successful fishing. The most widely used fishing technique for catching Mahseer is float fishing, but for catching the largest fish, bottom fishing, using ragu paste or small fish as bait, is the best. When camping, it is possible to fish both day and night; during the day you can focus on float fishing, and at night you can fish with bait directly from your tent. The main tactic for Mahseer fishing is to choose the right place, with plenty of big fish, in advance, and to ground bait the location, on a regular basis, for a few days before you start to fish. The preparation of the individual fishing sites is carried out before the start of each expedition, to ensure that all our clients have a chance to achieve a record catch.

The expedition is conducted so as to allow each participant to have the maximum chance of success. For this reason, each expedition is limited to 4 persons, which allows us to guarantee a personal approach to each of the fishermen. We will only increase numbers at the express wish of the client.
